NLSC IACET Accredited Provider

The National Life Skills Council strives to provide life skills training that adheres to the highest standards for rigor and quality. To demonstrate that excellence, the NLSC earned status as an Accredited Provider through the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), the leading organization setting standards for professional development programs.

IACET accredits programs that meet top benchmarks across nine internationally-recognized categories, meaning the NLSC’s life skills training has earned the highest recognition for continuing education.

What IACET Accreditation Means

Receiving designation as an IACET Accredited provider means the National Life Skills Council now may award Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to participants in its training events. These CEUs comply with the ANSI/IACET Continuing Education and Training Standard.

The ANSI/IACET Standard evaluates all elements of a Continuing Education and Training provider’s program development across nine categories: Organization, Responsibility and Control; Learning Environment and Support Systems; Planning and Instructional Personnel; Needs Analysis; Learning Outcomes; Content and Instructional Requirements; Assessment of Learning Outcomes; Awarding the IACET CEU and Maintaining Learner Records; and Evaluation of Learning Events.

Accepted Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

IACET created the CEU in 1970 as an international measure of noncredit continuing education activities. In compliance with the ANSI/IACET standards, the NLSC offers IACET CEUs for its training events that are accepted by a wide range of corporations, regulatory agencies, and organizations across the U.S.

Why is the CEU important? “It gives you, the adult education student, confidence in an organization’s education or training program. As an IACET Accredited Provider, their training adheres to the ANSI/IACET Standard for Continuing Education and Training. Their CE/T program’s policies and processes have met all ten elements of the ANSI/IACET Standard. The IACET CEU assures employers, credentialing associations, licensing bodies and others that a learner has completed a quality training program which meets THE national standard for continuing education and training.”

Earning Accreditation

Earning IACET Accreditation status underpins the vision that guides all the NLSC program development. We begin program design by creating standards – for both educators and learners – around which all the training resources and materials are developed. Then, based on student and instructor feedback, we refined the materials to ensure compliance with the top standards.

The official IACET Accreditation process began in late 2020 and was completed in early 2022.

The Forward Mission

IACET Accreditation supports the NLSC mission to impart life skills training that helps people live their best lives. Earning these credentials demonstrates our commitment to top-quality education and standards for all our programs. Along with a worldwide team of professionals, we are dedicated to providing life skills training, resources, and support that meet the highest guidelines for excellence – strengthening whole communities around the globe.
